Contents¶
Statement: The 40% figure is approximately correct for all GitHub repositories but masks significant variation: CI adoption is much higher (70-90%+) among actively maintained projects with multiple contributors, and much lower among single-person, dormant, or toy projects.
Supporting Evidence Would Show¶
- Studies showing bimodal or stratified CI adoption rates based on project activity, size, or contributor count.
- Evidence that CI adoption correlates strongly with project maturity indicators (stars, contributors, commit frequency).
- Separate adoption rates reported for 'active' vs. 'all' repositories showing large gaps.
Eliminating Evidence Would Show¶
- Studies showing CI adoption is uniformly distributed regardless of project size or activity level.
- Evidence that even large, well-maintained projects have low CI adoption rates.
- Data showing no meaningful correlation between project activity metrics and CI adoption.
