C001 — H3:¶
Contents¶
Statement: The 40% figure is approximately correct for all GitHub projects including inactive and trivial ones, but adoption is substantially higher (60-80%+) among active, maintained projects with multiple contributors. The claim is misleading because it conflates active and inactive projects.
Supporting Evidence Would Show¶
- Studies showing a strong correlation between project activity/size and CI adoption
- Data showing that most GitHub repositories are inactive, personal, or trivial, which heavily skews overall percentages
- Stratified analyses showing dramatically different CI adoption rates by project maturity tier
Eliminating Evidence Would Show¶
- Studies showing CI adoption is similarly low even among active, well-maintained projects
- Evidence that project activity level does not strongly predict CI adoption
- Data showing the 40% figure specifically targets active projects and already controls for this
