R0051/2026-03-31/Q002/H3¶
Statement¶
The W3C Credibility Coalition work is fully abandoned with no relevant features — the specifications no longer exist or were never completed, and no evidence evaluation capabilities were developed.
Status¶
Current: Eliminated
Supporting Evidence¶
| Evidence | Summary |
|---|---|
| SRC03-E01 | CCIV is explicitly archival — partially supports abandonment narrative |
Contradicting Evidence¶
| Evidence | Summary |
|---|---|
| SRC01-E01 | Signals spec exists as public draft — work was produced even if incomplete |
| SRC02-E01 | Tech report was finalized in 2020 — a completed output exists |
| SRC04-E01 | CCIV is cited in 2025 academic literature as foundational — ongoing influence |
| SRC05-E01 | Empirical validation study produced real results |
Reasoning¶
H3 is eliminated because tangible outputs exist (CCIV, signals spec, tech report, annotation studies), the group maintained quarterly meetings through 2024, and the work continues to be cited in academic literature as of 2025. "Abandoned" overstates the situation — "dormant" is more accurate.
Relationship to Other Hypotheses¶
The distinction between H3 (fully abandoned) and H2 (dormant with limited features) is resolved by the continued existence of outputs and ongoing citations, favoring H2.
