R0027/2026-03-26/Q003/H2¶
Statement¶
Multilingual prompt engineering needs are not addressed in existing guides and standards. Major vendor guides are English-only and do not discuss multilingual prompting.
Status¶
Current: Partially supported
H2 is partially supported. The vendor guide assessment is accurate — all three are essentially English-only with no dedicated multilingual content. However, H2 overstates the case by saying needs are "not addressed" at all. The community guide (promptingguide.ai) is available in 14 languages, and there is a growing body of academic research on multilingual prompting. The gap is specifically in vendor and standards documentation.
Supporting Evidence¶
| Evidence | Summary |
|---|---|
| SRC01-E01 | OpenAI guide is English-only, no multilingual section |
| SRC02-E01 | Anthropic guide is English-only, no multilingual section |
| SRC04-E01 | Google guide is primarily English |
Contradicting Evidence¶
| Evidence | Summary |
|---|---|
| SRC03-E01 | promptingguide.ai is available in 14 languages |
Reasoning¶
H2 accurately describes the vendor landscape but is too absolute for the broader ecosystem. The community guide and academic literature partially fill the gap, making H3 (partial/inconsistent coverage) more accurate than H2 (not addressed).
Relationship to Other Hypotheses¶
H2 and H3 overlap substantially. H3 is preferred because it acknowledges the community resource while still capturing the vendor gap.
