R0002/2026-03-13/C009/H2¶
Statement¶
The standards and elements counts are correct but the stage count or publisher attribution is wrong.
Status¶
Current: Inconclusive
Supporting Evidence¶
| Evidence | Summary |
|---|---|
| SRC01-E01 | Publisher was technically IOM, not NAS directly |
Contradicting Evidence¶
| Evidence | Summary |
|---|---|
| SRC02-E02 | Four stages confirmed by primary source |
| SRC03-E01 | Report published under National Academies umbrella |
Reasoning¶
H2 is partially supported on the attribution question -- the report was published by the IOM, not NAS directly. However, the IOM is a division of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, making "NAS" a colloquially acceptable shorthand. The four-stage count is confirmed by the primary source, so that aspect of H2 is not supported. H2 is inconclusive because the attribution imprecision is real but minor.
Relationship to Other Hypotheses¶
Overlaps with H1 on the numerical counts. H2's contribution is specifically about the publisher attribution, which H1 also acknowledges as technically imprecise. The two hypotheses are more complementary than competing on this specific point.
