R0002/2026-03-13/C004/H2¶
Statement¶
Mulrow 1987 is relevant background but PRISMA's development had more proximate causes. The causal chain from Mulrow to PRISMA is indirect.
Status¶
Current: Eliminated
Supporting Evidence¶
| Evidence | Summary |
|---|---|
| SRC01-E01 | Notes the causal chain passes through QUOROM (1999) before reaching PRISMA (2009) |
Contradicting Evidence¶
| Evidence | Summary |
|---|---|
| SRC01-E01 | PRISMA website explicitly credits Mulrow as the starting point |
| SRC03-E01 | Confirms Mulrow is cited as foundational |
Reasoning¶
H2 was included to test whether the claim overstates Mulrow's direct influence on PRISMA. There is a grain of truth: the causal chain passes through QUOROM (1999), which was subsequently updated to become PRISMA (2009, then 2020). However, the PRISMA website itself explicitly credits Mulrow, making this an acknowledged lineage, not an indirect connection. H2 is eliminated because the PRISMA developers themselves trace their initiative to Mulrow.
Relationship to Other Hypotheses¶
H2 is weaker than H1. The evidence that PRISMA developers explicitly credit Mulrow eliminates the "indirect cause" framing. The QUOROM intermediate step does not break the causal chain — it is part of the documented evolution.
