rewrite README, fix sphinx markdown lint, close lint coverage gap (#145) Rewrite README with API overview for PyPI landing page. Fix MD040 (fenced-code-language) and MD029 (ordered-list-prefix) violations in docs/sphinx/. Update markdown-standards.sh to run markdownlint on docs/sphinx files while skipping structural checks that do not apply to MyST/Sphinx pages.
